Eighteen.

How does one choose their fate? Why is it that as soon as we turn eighteen we are thrown out into the world and told, "Okay, this is it. Time for you to choose what you are going to do with the rest of your existence on this planet". Eighteen is so young, how should we know? How are we supposed to know our likes and dislikes and strengths and weaknesses and abilities and inabilities with such a depth that we could decide the exact path our life should travel? We have barely begun to live our lives. Until now we've been under the shelter of our parents roofs and inside classrooms with no bigger responsibilities than to make sure the dishes were done and the dog was fed.

We youth are rushing to pick our major, finish in four years, start the job right away, buy a house and be married and have children all by the time we are thirty. Why the rush? Life is short and that is exactly why we shouldn't rush through the days, letting life whirl by us as we try to follow through with a monotonous plan society expects us to complete. Why not work crappy jobs to scrape up some money and go backpack our ways across the country and meet people from different paths and wander a little, before responsibility comes knocking at the door? In the end, you may just wander your way down the perfect path for you.
