I promised to keep all of you updated on the big move going on with Hoagies so, here ya go! The big question most people have been asking is when the new Hoagies Heroes will be open. Well, they are shooting for January 14 although it is not a set date! It is subject to change. Lol. Yesterday I had the privilage of being payed to make and sample all sorts of coffees, which was fun especially since I am not a heavy coffee drinker and was super hyper after all the caffeine. Anyway, some fellow employees and I were taken down to the new location to meet up with a man from Seattle's Best. He was actually more like a coffee advocate than a regular "I take my coffee black" kind of man, and he taught us all about different styles of coffee and how to make them!
First thing we learned was how to steam milk. We each got to take a turn and I was last, so I was feelin the pressure to steam this milk perfectly. I got up to the espresso machine (the very pretty and expensive espresso machine) and let er' rip. And tada- I steamed that milk like I was steaming this milk for the queen of England! It had lots of foam, enough for a cappuccino, and if you happen to be a barista or coffee advocate you know that is alot of foam for a first-time-steamer like myself. The Seattle's Best coffee advocate-man seemed pretty proud of me too (thank you very much). He said my steamed milk/foam was good enough to use and used it to show us an example of how to make a cappuccino. After that we learned how to make latte's, caramel macchiatos, shaken iced teas, and "chillers" (which are the Hoagies version of frappachinos, very sweet and tastey.) Yep, we are going to have all your favorite coffees, except they won't be as expensive as other coffee chains! It's a win-win situation. Not only are we serving all these new coffees, but we'll have pastries, and soups now as well, along with the classic sub sanwiches
you love. It looks so nice in the new build
ing too, we've got the flatscreen tv's up and running (don't forget the free wi-fi). I'm so excited! Like I've said before... I better see all of you there one it opens! It's still to early to post pictures of the new uniforms and stuff, but I will soon. In the meantime though you could always stop by the old location (on the corner of Olive and Jaye across from Porterville High School) and say hi to me! Remember, we deliver too... check out the Hoagies Heroes website by clicking here http://www.hoagiesheroes.com/default.asp. Welp it's time for me to go to bed. Goodnight everyone!
